Larnaca

Larnaca Information

Larnaca possesses a style and ambience all of it's own. As host to Cyprus ' main international airport and second seaport, the cosmopolitan atmosphere and ancient surrounds offer a diversity that captures the hearts of all who come to visit.

No welcome could be warmer as here, deep blue seas meet bright sandy beaches under incomparably brilliant skies. There are intricate streets within the city which provide a wealth of shopping opportunities from Greek cultural handicrafts to international and European designer labels.

Here yachts and sailing vessels from around the globe bob and glint within the marina confines. As you stroll along the palm tree-lined promenade you will be greeted by a plethora of restaurants to choose from. The promenade winds its way to a striking finale, the Larnaka Medieval Museum , housed in a 17th-century fort.

Make your way north from the fort, toward the city centre of the city, and you will come to one of Larnaka's and the island's most cherished sites - the church of St. Lazarus . History tells that after his resurrection from the dead by Jesus, Lazarus elected to live out his "second" life as Bishop of Cyprus here.

One of the oldest, continually-inhabited cities in the world, Larnaka is steeped in ancient history and abounds with archeological sites. Visitors will be over whelmed by the majestic 18 th century aqueduct which was in use until 1930.
